Product Information
Sulfur Dioxide (SO₂) is one of six criteria air pollutants identified by the U.S. EPA and is monitored extensively around the world by regulatory agencies.
SO₂ is emitted directly from industrial processes and combustion sources. It is also directly emitted by vehicles, especially if fuel quality is poor.
The Aeroqual SO₂ module measures ambient concentrations, helping teams assess changes around industrial facilities and other potential sources.
Product Features
| Specification | Details |
| Measurement technology | Electrochemical sensor with automatic baseline correction |
| Measurement range | 0-10,000 ppb – equivalent to 0-10 ppm |
| Display resolution | 0.1 ppb |
| Lower detection limit | 2 ppb |
| Calibration | Field calibration using reference gases |
| Noise: Zero (ppb); Span (% of reading) | 1; 0.02% |
| Linearity (% of FS) | 0.6% |
| 24 hr Drift: Zero (ppb); Span (% of FS) | 1; 0.3% |
| Monitor platforms | AQS 1 and AQM 65 |
Sample/zero cycling helps reduce baseline drift during ambient monitoring.
Performance & Field Data
Aeroqual reports R² = 0.99 in a controlled six-point gas test spanning 0-1,000 ppb. This demonstrates response linearity over the tested concentrations; it is laboratory validation rather than an outdoor co-location result.
Results shown are from the specific manufacturer-reported evaluation described. Performance depends on the monitoring configuration, calibration, site conditions and measurement objectives.
Typical Applications
- Industrial perimeter monitoring
- Ambient assessments around combustion sources
- Urban air quality investigations
