Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂) is one of the six criteria air pollutants identified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is closely monitored worldwide by regulatory agencies.
It is released directly from combustion and certain industrial processes, and can also form secondarily through reactions between nitric oxide (NO) and ozone (O₃).
