The PCX PM module is equipped with an optical particle counter that sizes and counts particles based on light scattering. The intensity of scattered light is converted into a voltage pulse, with the pulse amplitude calibrated to a corresponding particle diameter. Particles are then classified into one of six count channels according to size. A proprietary algorithm translates these particle counts into mass concentrations, enabling continuous and simultaneous measurement of PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10, and TSP.

The module also features a temperature-controlled heated inlet and active flow control for consistent, reliable performance.
